Product Description
When the handwheel is turned, the valve stem rotates accordingly, but it does not move up or down. The thread at the bottom of the valve stem meshes with the thread inside the gate plate (wedge or parallel type) (valve stem nut). The rotational motion is converted into the linear motion of the gate plate through the threaded pair, causing it to rise and fall perpendicular to the fluid direction, thereby achieving the opening and closing of the pipeline.
Features
• Space Saving: Small height dimension, low requirements for installation space.
• No Visual Position Indicator: This is the major disadvantage. Unlike an OS&Y (Outside Stem & Yoke) valve, where you can tell at a glance if it's open or closed by the position of the stem, an NRS valve provides no external visual cue. You cannot tell its status just by looking at it.
• Stem Threads are Inside the Valve Body: The threaded part of the stem is inside the valve and in contact with the pipeline fluid. If the fluid is corrosive or contains debris, the threads can wear or corrode over time, potentially leading to failure.
